Our shop’s recommended chain is DID ZVMX. Of course, other chain makers are wonderful too, but we’re captivated by DID’s overwhelming stability.
Chain friction is quite substantial. If you spin the wheel with the chain off and then with it on, anyone can feel the difference.
Of course, once you’re riding and the chain heats up, it moves beautifully, but DID spins smoothly even when cold, and the rate of one-sided chain stretch that requires replacement feels significantly lower.
What’s remarkable is that it undergoes surface treatment and is produced steadily on the line, yet no matter where you inspect it, the crossover is excellent.
When pressing the plates together, we align the inner width. It’s a very good chain, but it’s not maintenance-free.
Without cleaning and lubrication—with zero maintenance—you won’t get the original performance, which is something we recognize as true for all things.
With the stand up and the wheel feeling light, pushing and pulling feels easy and very nice.
