A Yamaha MT-01 rear maintenance and OH & Ohlins installation request.
The MT-01 is truly a muscular bike with a distinctly Yamaha design.
The maintenance accessibility seems good, and once you get the hang of it, the work goes quickly. It’s a strange but steady process.
Oil levels throughout were in good condition.
The sleeves and other parts show no significant wear—everything looks good.
If we do this work again, it’s definitely safer to cut the chain.
The linkage area is quite new territory for us.
Since the chain occasionally contacts the swingarm, we fabricated a slider from Polypenco.
Rivet fastening would have looked pretty rough, so we went with M6 countersunk bolts instead. Beveling the edge in the chain travel direction will help.
It felt like it went quickly, but it was a full day—we had customers in, so sorry for the limited photos.
Tomorrow we’ll work on the fork and wrap it up.
