Sonnar T＊ E 24mm F1.8 ZA

Well, well—it’s been just nine days since I got my hands on the NEX-7
It’s turning out to be quite an excellent companion ★
With year-end work and all, I haven’t been turning on my D800 lately
I bought just the body, so picking out lenses is another joy!
Since it’s for quick snapshots, I don’t need a zoom
I’m not even sure I’ll use it for half a year, so expensive lenses are out
I thought about using the NEX-NIKON mount adapter with my existing lenses
But manual focus? That’s not happening.
The lens costs more than the NEX-7 body, so dropping it would be a disaster ★
So
It just came out, and for now, well…
I went with the E 35mm F1.8 OSS, model SEL35F18!
For the price, I thought it was really excellent ★
I do place great trust in genuine Sony lenses.
But the way I actually use it
The minimum focus distance was closer than I needed, making it awkward to use
When I’m shooting food outside, I end up looking like a strange person…
So in the end…
 

 
Sonnar T＊ E 24mm F1.8 ZA, model SEL24F18Z
is what I’m switching to.
 

 
Compared to the E 35mm F1.8 OSS, model SEL35F18
The minimum focus distance is 0.16 meters—about half—which is perfect ◎
I’d guess I can focus down to about 60–70 millimeters…
The price is easily double the suggested retail price of 103,950 yen…
Since I shoot indoors a lot
It works great even on a desk where I can’t step back ★
Eating out is easy too ◎
Shooting while working is no problem ◎
The downside is
It’s about 20 millimeters longer than the 35mm
So it won’t fit in my pocket anymore ★
I wanted to use a Zeiss Sonnar
Now I understand why people stick with the α series SLRs
