A little while back I tore into the carburettor maintenance and now it’s running a bit rough★
“Sometimes it goes pop! pop! pop!” like it’s misfiring~
The slide valve seems to be opening all at once~
Man, did I mess something up?
I rechecked the carburettor once but found nothing wrong
If it’s not the carburettor, we should suspect the electrical system
We might need to measure the resistance of the ignition coil too
But if you have a spare, swapping it out is faster
When you do, check the resistance values of old and new just to be sure, and also check the primary voltage
Around idle it’s pretty low…
It’s barely over 12V and unstable, dropping below 12V too★
Our go-to remedy: an Aemon relay
We don’t need 20A, but I ripped out all the existing wiring and ran new lines
Hmm★ it’s running pretty nicely now
I rode it around quite a bit in the cold, so this seems to have fixed it
The coil was just a test unit, so I swapped in a new one and we’re done
