GSX-1100S Final Edition Front Maintenance

So,
while we were at it, Pokidam Number 1 was looking pretty worn out too,
so we cut off the threaded part of that junk axle shaft with a metal saw
and joined two together
and Pokidam Number 2 was born! No pictures!
It’s like Gachappin and Mook! ↓
 

 
Upper seal—same as on the Bandit 1200 and GS1200SS and such
 

 
Lower seal is also the same as the Bandit family★
Modern seals really are well made these days.
Instead of the old press-fit seals, they now have stepped lips for better operation
and better sealing★I like them because they’re heavy and don’t need fitting adjustment
 

 
Pop it in and the face sits flush—you can see it by eye and feel confident
 

 
When we measured the dimensions they were identical,
so we went with our own preference and went with ball bearings top and bottom.
Not that ball bearings with retainers are necessarily better
or that tapered roller bearings are bad★
If you like tapered, you go with tapered★
