The rear maintenance improved things, so that was good.
But from the rear area comes this mysterious clunking and clanking sound!
The story jumps ahead—could it be something serious?
We took it apart the other day, and it’s already done 1,500 kilometers.
The pro arm has broken in pretty well now. Nothing particularly unusual to report.
Still, the bearing doesn’t look that bad.
Expectations are low, but we’re replacing it with a new one anyway.
That mini hydraulic press I bought ages ago came in handy.
We put a plastic ring inside to make it double-row.
I thought parts would be more expensive, but it was just over 2,000 yen.
While working on it, I thought, “Oh wait, this isn’t the bearing!”
So the cause of the mystery noise must be something else!
But it got fixed anyway…
Sure, the new one feels more solid.
But with that much play, the bearing should have been rattling way more.
Pro arm bearing = 50,000 kilometers is pushing it.
After that, we just need to replace the cable and we’re done.
