GSX-R1100 M/N Oil-Cooled Maintenance / Front / Bearing Maintenance

Now that the steering is done
we’re moving on to the front fork ★
There’s actually an additional OH item in front maintenance, but…
I’m still working out the pricing ★
Rear maintenance is turning out to be more involved than I thought and I’m still considering it, but I’m getting through the daily work
and I’m just barely keeping up with each day.

Surprisingly clean and reassuring ★ Signs of past disassembly
I’d love it if someone drilled a hole in the color (I went ahead and did it)
 

 
The inner tube is in good shape too ★ With inverted forks, the plating suddenly gets thin in some spots, so check the front upper side of the fork
Lots of people came in and out today ★

I’d really like to replace the wheel bearings around 20,000 to 30,000 kilometers
It’s important that they spin smoothly when you spin them with your finger, but when you insert the shaft and check for play, there’s often quite a bit of play (not play in the shaft itself, mind you)
It’s the same when you’re riding, but a well-maintained bike is incredibly easy to push or pull ★
Even a completely stock bike makes you go “wow.”
Only a little bit left until Golden Week!!! Oil changes are going to pick up, so I need to get ready
