Oil-Soaked Oil Change

 

 
It’s gotten quite cool lately.
I think it would be fine if it stayed hot a bit longer.
But when it’s cool, I feel like taking the bike out for a ride.
Which is better? I think they’re both equally good.
Anyway, oil changes are frequent when the seasons change, and our pail cans empty out fast.
Even with all the talk about rising oil prices, hobby items and luxury goods aren’t affected.
I think you should never skimp on engine oil.
With oil-cooled engines, whether an oil brand causes scuffing or not doesn’t seem to matter much.
I’ve looked at quite a few head covers, and the difference isn’t really about using OEM oil or various famous brands.
It seems to come down to how well you keep oil from draining out of the head—that is, maintaining proper oil pressure at regular intervals.
Though I can’t say that for certain yet.
So is cheap oil okay then?
I don’t think so. It’s not about scuffing or no scuffing, but rather how the oil temperature rises, the feel when it’s hot,
how it recovers after cooling down, shift feel, and the overall durability that encompasses everything.
Taking all that into account, I’ve stuck with Newtech, which offers stable performance.
I think solid, reliable performance is the way to go.
