Obon Season Arrives

Obon comes early in Tokyo…
We got our preparations done on Saturday.
I haven’t visited the family grave during work hours, so I’ll go first thing this week.
Since it’s in Yotsuya, it’s close and easy ★
But man, our place is hot. The indoor temperature stays over 30 degrees Celsius, so we have to keep the air conditioner and fan running to circulate the air or it gets brutal.
So I get out of the bath and glance up at the ceiling light, and there’s this buzzing sound—bzzzzzzzz—and like 20 to 30 of something are flying around!
They weren’t there before I took my bath… Did I leave the window open or something???
I squashed one to figure out what kind of bug it was.
Hmm??? They’re ants… It’s like a real-life Bugs’ World.
Winged ants took flight, and for some reason a whole swarm invaded through the window. Since it’s fate, I had to exterminate them.
But I don’t have anything fancy like insecticide on hand.
So I thought, “Well, I guess I’ll just kill them one by one,” but I wasn’t getting anywhere…
Oh! I’ve got that thing with suction power that never lets up ★
The vacuum!
Bzzzzzzzz ★ Total annihilation complete…
Summer, right? Last year I was all relaxed thinking, “Oh, a cicada got in!” but it turned out to be a cockroach.
Ugh. Gross, but I’m not scared anymore, yo ♪
