There’s no item for our shop’s inspection and maintenance…
I think it’s because people who have been riding bikes for a long time can request maintenance on their own judgment—
But there are those who aren’t like that, and surprisingly, many don’t check things.
As everyone gets older, leisure time decreases and we can’t spend as much time on bikes alone.
So I decided to try doing a thorough check on my own bike today.
I figured that having more inspection items isn’t necessarily better, so I gave it a try.
That led to a simpler checklist.
It came down to brakes, intake, ignition and electrical, sliding parts, and adjustments.
【Brakes】
Front and rear caliper cleaning, pad pin cleaning (or replacement), pad chamfering, piston operation inspection,
brake disc cleaning, fluid replacement (from all nipples), diaphragm cleaning (or replacement)
(clutch models also include clutch)
【Intake】
Air cleaner inspection/cleaning or replacement, carburetor/FI synchronization, PS adjustment
【Ignition and electrical】
Spark plug inspection or replacement, spark plug cap inspection, voltage generation inspection, lighting inspection, ground inspection/cleaning,
battery charging
【Sliding parts】
Throttle/clutch/choke cable lubrication/adjustment, lever/pedal lubrication
Drive chain cleaning/lubrication/adjustment
That’s about where it stands…
Beyond that, it becomes major maintenance—one thing leads to another.
Fork oil replacement, and while you’re at it, remove the stem too—
And then you end up doing the swingarm as well.
Just a rough outline for now…
Yep, yep
Plus there are water-cooled bikes too—hmm?
