Sorry for getting away from oil-cooled bikes lately★ My—my—GSF won’t come back—
So I’m gonna get the GS1000 inspection done this month! Gotta replace the tires and it’s gonna cost a fair bit—
Alright, today I’m taking apart the forks on a Yamaha FZ750★
Gross—the fork oil, well—it’s old so I guess it can’t be helped . . .
Huh? The oil lock is installed backwards—how did it even hold up . . .
Doesn’t look like it was ridden hard, so damage is minimal! I repaired the burrs on the lathe and there’s no bending, so
I’ll call it good. These kinds of forks (with anti-nose) for some reason have the oil lock
installed backwards on a lot of used bikes . . . I wonder why?
Looking at the structure, it seems like it should be straightforward . . .
I fired up the GS engine yesterday, and man was it loud! (That’s the Yoshimura iron banana from back then!)
All the cars at the red light were staring over here, so I felt a little self-conscious★
It’s gotta be 120 dB or something? And it still passes inspection, so vintage bikes are awesome♪
