Cycad Written as Sotetsu Chapter

Finally wrapped up the touring chapter~.
Gotta write these down quick or the stories get buried . . .
So after a weekend like this, Monday finally rolls around! Time to get to work~
A mysterious won’t-start problem . . . an SRX400, yep. I got stuck with the same bike back in the day~
This thing won’t start again! Once you kill the engine, it absolutely won’t fire until it cools down.
The plug is of course pitch black!! And it’s got an FCR carburettor and a bored-out engine, but the owner couldn’t care less . . .
Doesn’t even know what’s going on. Looks like the oil’s never been changed either.
So I figured, what the heck, and after I got the engine running I asked: ever checked the valve clearance?
Nope, never checked it. What’s a valve clearance anyway? That kind of vibe . . . sheesh.
I’ll swap the oil while I’m at it—this is easy~—and I was surprised!
The intake valve clearance is zero! Which means it’s so tight the piston barely clears it.
I’d seen a case like that before, so I figured that was probably it and adjusted the valve clearance . . .
Sure enough! It was zero~and of course the plug was pitch black too~.
Ordered a gasket and we’re done!! Don’t take valve clearance lightly or you’ll get burned!
