Right now I’ve got a GSX-R600 side stand on there, and man—it’s light and fantastic!
The bike doesn’t lean over when parked, which is awesome★, or so I thought… but then I found out it scrapes!
I saw a nice side stand on some GSF somewhere, and I was like, “Hey! What is that? Can I fit one?”
So I dug around and did a bunch of research and found it!
Silver doesn’t look good, so let’s go black! I remember stainless steel had surface treatment options too.
I called around to about three places and found out… it’s expensive. The treatment alone runs close to ten grand, so that seemed ridiculous.
So I ended up going with Nishimura Coating, but…
The paint film thickness became a problem and required reworking.
It’s about 0.2 mm thicker, so I had to bore out the inner diameter on a lathe to use it…
Alright, now I can adjust it!
But the depth is different, so it doesn’t fit right…
So I had no choice but to mill it out!
Oh, that looks good♪
The bolts are from the R600 so they look weird, but after the holiday break I’ll swap them out for GSF bolts and nuts and we’re done★
Looks great! But man, it’s heavy. Maybe I should measure it next time?
