On the way home (Hanzomon Line) – the train’s air conditioning was way too cold
Once I stepped outside, it was scorching hot
I wanted to pick up a souvenir and eat some shaved ice, so I headed to Toraya’s main Akasaka branch ★
I ducked down into the basement tea lounge ★
I ordered Uji Kintoki with extra condensed milk and mochi balls
The subtle bitterness was perfect, and the ice was nice and crispy ★ Such refined elegance.
Buried beneath the ice was a layer of refined, sweet red bean paste.
Maybe because of the location or because it was a weekday, the place was practically empty – absolutely perfect!
Aoyama-dori racing ★
I bought some for home and some as gifts, but man, they were incredibly heavy…
The large yokan weighs 1.4 kilograms!
There’s no way I could eat all that.
Even the medium yokan is 390 grams – if you’re a guy, you should just eat it straight from the bar.
Man, that was heavy.
