At highway speeds, the oil temperature apparently drops to around 40 degrees. The GSF1200 and similar bikes can handle a significantly reduced coverage area during cold seasons.
You could go the simple route with tape, but when you remove it, it gets sticky and turns into a bit of a sad cleanup session.
Wouldn’t it be better if it were easy to attach and detach, looked clean, and let you adjust the coverage area?
When I say things like that, I end up going “Hmm??” and wondering about it.
First, let’s paint it blue and think about the design.
A shape that’s easy to cut with a contour cutter, without reducing coverage area, that doesn’t look too rough, and keeps it simple.
If you remove the top or bottom piece, the coverage area increases dramatically. Even moving just one piece up and down to change its position should produce different effects.
Connecting the top and bottom pieces perfectly would probably give the smallest coverage area.
The resin pins I have on hand have long necks, so I’m holding off on that for now.
