The dirt inside the sprocket cover is quite stubborn. Old grime is tough to remove.
The counter shaft shows no damage, which is reassuring.

Is the spline the same as Suzuki’s? It’s close, so lock washers might work, but the spline is shorter than expected.
It’s best to make it physically impossible to come loose.

On bikes from this era, the mating surface is plastic, so the feel isn’t ideal. There are various aftermarket options, but this time we’ll just clean, lubricate, and adjust.

While we’re at it, let’s replace the clutch cable too. It’s worn quite a bit, but for now we’ll leave it as is.

DID ZVM-X chain—I think it’s a drive chain you can really feel the difference with.
