Man, it’s been so cool lately! I really think that’s a good thing…
This year was especially hot! I’m not a big fan of air conditioning, but without it I can’t get any work done because it’s too hot.
But when I turn it on, I feel like my health isn’t quite right… It’s a real problem.
Now that it’s cooled down this much, I should be able to manage oil temperature less strictly.
Engine stop at traffic lights! On hot days, the temperature would sometimes keep rising even after shutting it off…
Idling makes the oil temperature rise easily (no wind from riding) and the oil pressure is low too.
That’s pretty harsh on the engine. If you’ve got a GSF where the oil temperature just keeps climbing,
turning it off might help?
The GSF’s oil cooler is pretty excellent—in stop-and-go riding, it never exceeded 100 degrees.
Of course, if you abuse it on a circuit or something, 100 degrees is easy to exceed.
It’s not just about looking at the temperature number—it’s about what kind of riding conditions you’re in.
After hard riding in summer, let’s change the oil!
