I can’t tell if I’m just diligent or if I have too much free time… really…
Truth is, I’m just an amateur enthusiast.
My habit is to buy manga every day! Basically, I’ve stuck with not reading or buying for nearly 12 years because I like them.
But lately I got hooked on “Akagi”—apparently it’s a character from a manga called “Ten.”
Since I jumped straight to “Akagi” without reading “Ten”…
I read all 17 volumes (the next one hasn’t been released yet) and then moved on to “Kaiji.”
There are three arcs, and I started with the newest one (mahjong) and the full hand game! Now I’m going from “Chinchirorin” to “Pachinko.”
Gamblers are amazing at finding at least a 50% winning element, or at the very least.
Anyway, back to tappet adjustment! Even people who know about it probably aren’t doing it…
The worst case is when it ends up like in the photo, and then the cotter (the buddy between the valve and retainer) comes off—it’s terrifying.
It becomes a real problem.
Clearance is better when it’s larger rather than smaller! But too much is no good!
Too much = strong striking force (like swinging a hammer down for a long time) and you’ll end up like in the photo!
Too little = tight contact, scuffing, valve stuck open and running rough!
Check it every 2 years or every 20,000 kilometers—either way, you should!
Man, Akagi is becoming an anime… that’s kind of iffy…
