Wheel bearing position adjustment/Let’s adjust the distance collar.
Before removing it, you need to know by marking how it was assembled on both the left and right sides.
If you just go ahead, you’ll lose track of it.
The narrower inner diameter is a consideration so the distance collar doesn’t move around. How thoughtful.
Wheel bearings are typically set up with one side bottoming out and the other side free for adjustment.
If both sides snapped in with precision all the way to the end, the distance collar and everything else would become a real headache.
The original distance collar size is unclear.
Since I was shooting with one hand, the measurement came out to around 90 mm—a pretty round number.
It feels a bit off, but even in this temporary assembly, the push and pull are clearly lighter.
The brakes, wheel bearings, and drive chain pretty much determine everything.
We’re short on parts, so it’s on hold for a bit longer.
