Deco-mainte and Newtech oil change
There are many overlapping points, so we kept it light.
There was some oil residue, but it’s old. However, there are signs of disassembly and lubrication, so you can feel the love that went into this bike.
Both pedals and levers feel great when the operation and return are smooth in those delicate spots where you’re barely moving them. I think the natural feel where the controls don’t demand your attention is what makes it good.
The side stand deploys smoothly and retracts smoothly when you apply lubrication. You can check the U-shaped root on the stand side to see how much it’s opened or worn. If it’s opened up, we adjust it back, and if the clearance with the frame side is wide, we install a shim. Even the same unit can vary. Different manufacturers have different philosophies too, which is interesting.
The side stand spring is so durable—I’m impressed every time.
The air cleaner shows some age, but it’s still clean, so let’s replace it next time.
The front brake was already serviced separately. We replaced both.
We cleaned the rear caliper before the fluid change. No rust, and the operation feels good.
After a test ride, we’re done.
