CBR1100XX Carburettor Maintenance & Flat-Rate Motorcycle Inspection

The engine wouldn’t start, so we picked it up.

A large amount of fuel had leaked into the crankcase, and it took considerable time to drain and flush it.
The overall condition was quite severe.

The jets and needles were seized solid—quite something. When clogging reaches this level, there are passages that even a carburetor cleaner can’t reach, so care is needed.

I had a junk electric rice cooker on hand, so I added detergent and tried cooking the carb parts in it.

Wow—it came out much cleaner than I expected. I was amazed.

The fuel passage O-rings were in poor condition and leaking, so ultimately four of them came apart.
I was impressed by the intricate design of the Keihin vacuum-operated carb. Now we just need to get the inspection and we’re done.
