I think everyone prefers a clean finish if possible.

I removed it but found nothing underneath. It was just sealing it.
Both top and bottom are dirty. But once assembled, we won’t take it apart for a while.
For now, I’ve polished both the top and bottom surfaces.
I can’t hide my surprise at how much rust there is.
