Inazuma oil-cooled Katana fairing replacement and more

It’s not a major job, but nothing can get started until the parts arrive.

It tipped over slightly and the handlebar hit the tank hard—it dented.
We could paint it or replace it, but we went with the latter. We’ll install a stopper to limit the steering angle.

Since it won’t be ridden as-is, we cut the ears the same way with an air saw.

The lever seems too good to waste, so let’s put it back and reuse it.

The brake pedal bolt is bent, so we’ll replace it with a grade 12.9 bolt to improve durability.

The fairing is loose, so we’ll switch to fasteners for a dress-up and better serviceability.

Adding trim to areas prone to scratching is a good idea. You can work without worrying about removal, and serviceability improves too. Trim with adhesive backing or double-sided tape will dirty the fairing, so it’s better to use trim with metal inside.

It’s hard to get into neutral, so we made a test piece from scrap and lengthened it by about 5 mm. Since it’s a test piece, the finish is rough.
At a traffic light, you want to go from first to neutral, but it’s more like second→first→second→first?
We thought the longer stroke might feel off, but it actually worked quite well. Let’s have you check it out.
The handlebar is slightly bent, so we’ll replace it and we’re done.
