The GS1200SS-2 is beautifully maintained. It’s an extremely rare Type II model.
The owner requested inspection, oil-cooled maintenance, sel point maintenance 20, and Newtech oil change.
First, we’ll replace the generator damper. Even before replacement, it was relatively soft with no play.
There’s a rubber cover on the wiring, but we’ll remove it.
Running the side stand switch wiring through here keeps things simple.
Thread it through the inside of the bracket.
The engine damper was nicely loose.
Let’s clean the case side before reassembling.

No scuffing. We made adjustments, but the initial clearance wasn’t significantly off.
The inside of the breather cover has quite a bit of corrosion. Let’s polish it while we’re at it.
It really feels good when the fine details come out clean.
The interior is clean and reassuring. Regular oil changes are really paying off.
The synchronization wasn’t off much, so we’ll leave it as is.
We’ll change the engine oil to Newtech NC50.
Let’s replace the cap O-ring too.
A standard hose feels a bit tight.
What I often use is this spring-reinforced type. It can handle decompression and is especially strong against bending.
Since it might rub or we might see water vapor, let’s put a light mesh cover over it.
