Let’s perform front maintenance.
This time we’re replacing the inner tubes. It’s a phenomenon unique to inverted forks where they always wear down at the same spot.
With OEM parts, the inner tubes come with shims included, so everything cleans up nicely all at once.
I’ve noticed oil-cooled parts have suddenly jumped in price lately… I wonder if things are getting tight?
The inner tubes inevitably wear down at the front. With conventional forks, you can rotate the position each time you disassemble them, so you can hide wear across all 360 degrees. Inverted forks don’t work that way.
It feels gritty to the touch.
Some riders come in around 20,000 kilometers.
We clean up all the parts~
Bleed the air, adjust the oil level, and we’re done.
Since we did front maintenance before, we’re reusing the bearings.
I can’t remember exactly when, but it was apparently from the old Shibuya days, so it’s been well over six years.
That’s Newtech NC100 for you. I think you only really understand whether chemicals and such are good or bad after they’ve been used across various bikes, different conditions, and over time.
Let’s do a quick check to make sure everything’s okay. Especially since I don’t trust my own judgment.
We applied fresh grease and assembled everything.
