First, the lever area—you can clean it from the outside just fine, but removing it lets you get deep inside for a thorough cleaning.
Occasionally the lever or body wears and gets stiff when tightened, so we usually replace them with self-locking nuts. Replacement every two to three services is better.
If the boots are torn, replacing them makes it look nice.
The side stand had chain oil dripping on it—looks like it was getting lubricated that way. We cleaned it and reassembled it.
The left one is direct-mounted, so only the right one. It’s in pretty sharp condition.
But before that—the bracket that’s torqued together with the step is broken.
Looks like it was being held by one whitish point. Lately I find myself thinking “really?” pretty often. The bike is getting old, after all.
I’d hate to get yelled at, but surprisingly it ends peacefully—maybe because they trust us.
