The GSX-R1100K-N quick fastener kit that only those in the know are aware of.
They fly off quite a bit.
Blow off the welded nut with a milling machine → polish → punch out the fastener receiver to the right size with a press → tack weld → apply rust preventative. This is the bottom side that attaches to the frame.
I’m not sure why the GSX-R has fastener holes already open in the undercowl, but I can’t find a receiver with the same pitch. *Maybe it uses an S-shaped receiver? Or maybe it’s a design choice? I’m not sure.
Since an S-shaped design limits the options for neck length, I rejected it and went with this plate-type design where you can choose the neck length in 1 mm increments. So I’ll use the press punch to create a slot in the right image like the left one. I’ve already made the fixture, so it’s quick.

Fixed like this and we’re done. Normally the receiver itself would support it with a surface, but this is more than sufficient for secure fastening. Since it’s being fixed to plastic, I use gentle aluminum rivets for the body.
The other day when I polished the rear wheel hub, I also replaced the hub bearing. But it had to stop because there was no oil seal in stock.
Suzuki’s wheel oil seal that doesn’t spin—it’s unbelievably stiff. Honestly, it’s abnormal.
If I assemble it as is, the wheel collar will wear down… I mean, unless you’re riding through muddy off-road terrain… or unless oil is seeping out from inside… it’s not right.
I’ll rub it down with a whetstone until the collar doesn’t fall off too much. Just doing this alone improves the wheel spin a little.
I should think about adding a clutch plate replacement menu.
