Brought in due to a sudden strange noise. Turned out to be an exhaust leak.
Actually, when I removed it, #4 was in pretty bad shape. I couldn’t quickly picture how to fix it, so we left it as is this time. We’ll repair it if it gets worse.
It’s great that small parts are available. That’s Yoshimura for you.
We gave it a light polish.
And that’s how it came back to life.
Since we did a stem OH previously, this time it’s cleaning, lubrication, and fork OH.
Alternating between these might be a good maintenance cycle.
We worked NC100 in thoroughly and the stem is complete.
Now we move on to the front fork.
The dirt wasn’t too bad. It’s in pretty good shape.
When disassembling an inverted fork, drilling a hole makes things easier for the next person.
If possible, I’d appreciate it if you could drill one beforehand.
The fit has gotten pretty tight, so this will be the last time using this inner tube.
Next time it’ll be re-plating and inner tube replacement.
No runout, so we’re good.
We use SKF seals as always.
We replaced the cylinder bolts too if possible. That way the next person can work with peace of mind.
We bled out as much air as we could. All done.
