Inazuma 1200 Oil-cooled Katana OHLINS Rear Shock Replacement Rear Caliper and Master OH

Strangely enough, we don’t often see the same bike model come through back-to-back. It’s either oil-cooled Katanas for a while, or GS1200SS, or early GSX-R, K6, or MN models.

I wonder if GSF and Bandit have become obsolete. Even regular Inazumas…
OHLINS rear shock and rear caliper master OH.
The stock rear suspension was leaking pretty badly, which was honestly a bit concerning.
That’s how we ended up swapping it out for OHLINS.
The reservoir is offset, so you need to be careful about left and right assembly.
This one was also pretty stubborn and crusty.
The oil seal is still okay, but the dust seal deformation is pretty bad.
Maybe it’s worth doing an overhaul about once every ten years. If you’ve bought it used and haven’t done an overhaul yet, it’s definitely worth doing.
Your brakes will be reliable, and these days there’s also Gun Coat available, so you can paint it in different colors. *Though we only have black, silver, and clear…
Here’s a little tip: first remove the big debris with a wire brush—it saves time.
By the way, for rotating tools like this, a motor-driven one is better.

For your reference.
This takes about one or two minutes. I think it’s really important to work quickly, cleanly, and keep things in a stable state. After this comes polishing.
That’s how we finished it up.
We painted it with CCI Metal Rubber (brush application)
We do a thorough inspection before assembly.
This is roughly the condition we’re looking at.
The piston was also a bit crusty.
I remember it felt really strange doing the same work back-to-back. (This was last month’s job.)

The content is pretty straightforward, but that wraps it up for this time.
