Brake fluid is hygroscopic—it readily absorbs moisture from the air—so ideally you’d want to swap it out every year if you ride, or at least every two years if you don’t.
In the city you won’t get freezing, but considering the riding conditions, I’d want to change it every two years.
By draining and checking, you can also spot engine oil mixing in or notice any blow-by inside the engine. Fluids really are important.
No issues, so we reused it.
We also cleaned and lubricated the levers, fork, and side stand.
The wiring is fantastic.
The previous owner? A bike shop? You can tell when you take it apart. You get this feeling: “Ah, this was really well cared for.”
It’s educational.
