Maintenance and Repair: Fun with Motorcycles? Usable OEM Parts Repurposing

OEM parts have surprisingly high quality for the price. They have that solid, dependable feel to them.
List prices only go up, never down, so if something catches your eye, it’s better to stock it sooner rather than later.

I’ve put together a quick summary in video and text form below—enjoy!

94631-44110 Cowling Mold $17.00
This is a cowling mold with metal inside. It’s reusable without adhesive or double-sided tape.
It’s about 2 meters (2M) long.

For applications like:
• Wrapping around the fuel tank ribs with plenty to spare.
• When removing and installing the fuel tank, attach it to the ribs to prevent scratches on both the tank and frame.
• Works fine on the outer edge of sheet metal too.

You can adjust the clamping thickness to some degree as needed.

Example: You can attach it to the tank ribs too.

It’s also perfect for protecting wiring on sheet metal so you don’t cut it.

57110-07L00 Throttle Right ASSY $14.50
This is a variable throttle sleeve used on the new Katana 1000, GSX-S1000, and others. As you can see in the image, it has a groove cut in the throttle cable passage that varies the winding from low throttle to high throttle.

I remember the old days with TMR-MJN carburetors having terrible snatch, so we’d cut grooves on the throttle side with a contour tool or add a ring on the carb side to increase the diameter slightly for low throttle.

It’s nice to have this kind of part available as OEM.

36618-43410 Sensor Cover $1.20

You might think, “What’s this?!” but this part specification is surprisingly rare. Most of the time it’s included in the main harness ASSY or sensor ASSY, making it a hard-to-find boot. (Super obscure stuff.)

I think I found it by chance while servicing a V-Strom 650 or something like that.

The image is a GSX1100S. This is how you could use it.
It’s a bit large for Yoshimura sensors, so you might want to add a cable tie or sponge inside.

69142-46E01 Pad Clip $3.30

This part is perfect for Suzuki rear Tokico calipers. (The 1200-series 2-pin type uses this one.)
I think it works best on GSX-R750/1100.

I believe you could also use it on the rear of a GSX1100S with a slight bend.

09125-06045 Aluminum Minus Bolt 6×14 $5.40
09125-06046 Aluminum Minus Bolt 6×20 $5.80

These are perfect for small cowling attachments or areas where things like footpegs might rub.
They’re also great for securing license plates.

51353-47F00 Steering Aluminum Nut $15.00

Originally for the GS1200SS. The meat is cut out and it looks really cool.
There are similar designs with different diameters, so watch out.

It fits directly on GSX-R750/1100, GSF1200, Inazuma 1200, Bandit 1200, and others.
You could also swap in this nut and mount a navigation system in the hollow part of the stem.
