Inspection and rear brake disc & pad replacement work requested.

For the rear, we selected RK809-MAX.
I don’t chamfer pads and discs when they’re new.
When you chamfer,
especially on the top and bottom, the contact width becomes narrower, which means steps form on the top and bottom of the disc. If the caliper isn’t positioned just right when you remove it, the rolling feel can sometimes suffer.

When you hold the pad up and look at the contact width, you often discover surprising things.
The other day, the brake was held down continuously, so it’s scorched and worn down.
It was quite aggressively worn down.
When I remove it, I just give it a quick wipe. I don’t scrub it too thoroughly or meticulously. I find that repeating quick cleanings suits me better than spending a lot of time on it, and it’s also a good balance since it’ll just get dirty again anyway.
I’m hopeful that as each part gets cleaned up with every job, eventually everything will be clean.
After that, I cleaned the caliper.
Tomorrow we’ll take it in for inspection and that’ll be the finish.

Regular work is nice. I’m happy about the straightforwardness of finishing on time as expected.
