The key points of caliper OH are
· thoroughly remove aluminum corrosion and debris
· uniformize the corroded surface
· replace seals with new ones
· assemble with CCI MR20 metal rubber
In a way, it’s similar to treating a cavity.
Surface corrosion is unavoidable to some extent, but if “corrosion debris” remains,
corrosion will develop from there again.
And it pushes the seal inward, degrading operation.
We replace the piston with a new one while it’s out. The face of the pad-pushing plate has gotten wider… (countermeasure? improvement?)
Let’s inspect old and new parts and assemble them. The pistons are the same size. The return spring free length has increased. *Countermeasure? Improvement? Common? It’s pretty subtle…
Here’s the rear master cup and piston.
I ordered according to the part number, but… is it a mix of R2 and something else?
