I thought GoPro was the king of this kind of gear! But then
a new contender appeared. The INSTA360 ONE X has been on the market for a little while now, and I got one.
And it’s used, too… seriously?
Wait, didn’t you just saythe Insta360 ONE R just came out?
Isn’t it better to go with older models that have dropped in price and had all their bugs worked out?

I wanted to co-mount it to the bottom case (to shoot from pretty low), so I made a clamp for that.
INON Direct Base 3
It has a 6mm hole in the center, so it’s very practical to use.
You can use it for all sorts of things even with co-mounting. It’s a bit pricey, though.
*The anti-rotation corners stick out on two sides, so I ground those off. I also installed a helicoil.
This makes for a solid mount.
Ball head mount adapter with butterfly screw (it’s a bit different, but)
this part is the same as GoPro, so that’s helpful.
Since the lens is exposed, I decided to use it in a waterproof case. (It came with the used unit.)
I wonder what material this waterproof case is made of… polycarbonate? No way…
It’ll definitely break at the base…

With this, you can mount pretty much anything.
Personally, I use the same setup for everything: smartphone, Sony camcorder, GoPro, and INSTA360 ONE X.
The quick attachment and detachment is definitely a plus. The design is also very simple, so it’s perfect.

On the helmet-side base, I’ve attachedQUAD LOCK Universal Adapter V2 QLA-UNI-2.
With a plate and this universal adapter, attachment and detachment becomes easy.
Top, side, or at an angle—it’s flexible any way you want. And attachment and removal are instant!
Make sure the lever doesn’t contact the other lever.
