The oil-cooled valve adjustment is incredibly easy with this item. It’s kind of subtle, but this is the only one!

Even though I’ve used it that much, it’s still going strong~
It’s incredibly durable, so it’s a super tool you can use for years to come.
Now the head cover is leaking oil like crazy, and gravel is getting mixed in, making a real mess.
Gravel and dust get attracted, so if it starts seeping, replace the gasket as soon as possible (‘ω’)ノ

Mystery bolts… have been changed.
As I suspected, it was changed to M6 (*’ω’*)
Originally this is M7 P1.0. It doesn’t come up in most general work, so most people don’t have helicoils. We only have them because oil-cooled bikes come in.
But we don’t have this M7 helicoil, and when a customer has this situation, it’s a tough call whether it’s kinder to fix it anyway… or leave it alone…
Buy a helicoil? Recoil was 6,450 yen on Amazon!
The pilot hole drill and helicoil tap come with it, so it’s convenient… these days.
Back in the day, we had to source everything separately.
This is a tip that may or may not be useful. The oil-cooled head cover gasket sometimes gets stuck so badly it won’t come off. *More common with Bandit 1200 owners running hot
I’m not sure if this will help, but if you tap all the cam plugs with a “knock!” at the cam plug location, they usually come off easily.
I think it’s faster than tapping the head cover with a plastic hammer (‘ω’)ノ
This liquid gasket is incredibly hard to peel off…
If you’re using it as insurance, I’d definitely ask you to stop…

About this Motion Pro tool. It doesn’t flex, so it’s easy to apply force, and the height is just right.
The adjuster adjustment is good too.
If you’ve never used one, I really want you to try it once. There are other sizes from other makers.
These kinds of things might become unavailable at any time, so if you’re interested, it’s good to quietly stock up.

Now I’ll extract the M6 helicoil and replace it with M7.
The tang isn’t broken… it’s pretty tough.
I removed the sprue and managed to get it out somehow… it’s thin and went in a bit deep, so that was close.
This is the old helicoil equipment.
For those using tang-on coils like Recoil, I really want you to try tangless. *The tools are expensive though.
Once you know how convenient it is, tang-on is just too much work and time, honestly I don’t want to use it.

I also torque-checked the other cam holders. No issues found. It’s starting to look like a Z.

No cam scuffing and everything looks good. The engine interior has no heavy sludge either, so the condition is good.
When washing the head cover, I’ve been using a Vikan brush for ages.
The bristles don’t give up, no matter what. I think I’ve been using this one for 7-8 years.
I wash it like scrubbing potatoes, really going at the wash tank. The wash liquid is solvent, but it doesn’t give in to that at all, so I think it’s pretty professional-grade.
I haven’t seen many good Japanese-made products like this.
They’re a bit pricey, but I mainly choose overseas brands for my tools.

I’m disassembling the rear master. The snap ring wouldn’t come off and I struggled. It’s really dirty.
The paint was also flaking, so I polished it and refreshed it (*’ω’*)
