Ah, what a blast from the past! ♪ The little Pokidam (a coined term)
The tank was all rusty, so rust removal and coating would have taken longer and been less precise. I found one on an auction site and had it sent over.

The chin guard and Pokidam were requested to be removed, so I peeled them off carefully. It’s quite a job to peel them off.
There was some sun damage and one spot where the sticker took some paint, but it’s a used bike so that’s unavoidable! I’ll touch it up for you.
I checked the inside of the tank with an endoscope. It was in excellent condition—very reassuring!
As a motorcycle shop, having an endoscope is incredibly helpful.
• Tank condition inspection
• Fairing interior structure inspection
• Checking for dropped bolts or parts inside the frame
• Combustion chamber inspection through the spark plug hole
Basically, you can inspect things without removing parts.

Lately I’ve been using it frequently, and showing customers various things on screen really boosts credibility.
In situations like this, it’s good to clean the back of the tank too.
I cleaned the petcock and will reuse it.
The carburetor synchronization was already set, so it didn’t drift.
*Image was stuck too tight initially (adjusted to a good position afterward).
I used an Arcan Hands throttle cable this time.
The length and fitting angles were fine.
However, the ferrule width on the throttle sleeve side (not the outer diameter) was slightly larger and wouldn’t fit through the switch-side hole.
The Suzuki switch holder hole is tight, and the Arcan Hands ferrule is a bit wide, which is the issue, but I thought if I filed it down a little, it would be worth about half the price.

When you do a soft carburetor overhaul, the cold start and throttle response really are different.
The old gasoline had rust in it, so I discarded it all. I filled it with Idemitsu (Shell) premium.
I’ve been thinking—doesn’t Eneos gasoline seem a bit “hmm?” to you? I’m not that particular, but when I use Idemitsu (Shell), it just feels better lately. (I know I’m late to the party on this…)
And I really came to appreciate how important the carburetor is. Done!
