Z1000MK2 Bringing It Back from Long Hibernation – Soft Restore to Full Original Specs? Brake Caliper & Master Overhaul

Boom! (*’▽’) It’s freezing, isn’t it?

So we’re making steady progress bit by bit (*´з`)
Working on it piece by piece as we go.

I’d like to overhaul the rear master, but the parts are discontinued.
Since brakes are critical, I won’t use overhaul parts as substitutes. There are replacement options available, so I went with those instead.

The brake pedal is so rusted it won’t move at all.
I’ll clean up each spring and component one by one.

Time flows on…
Nissin’s pitch is perfect – can use it as-is. (There’s a spacer in between though…)

The hose outlet diameter and direction are a bit awkward.
I’ll need to think about this one…

I’ll use a lock nut for the rear axle.
Just realized it’s M18-1.5 – that’s how it goes sometimes.
Oh, I’m covering it with a clean spare nut.

The bearings and shaft are fine, so we’re good to reuse them.

The front caliper was brought in for aluminum piston replacement.
Wow, it’s light!

Hmm? The diameter is different… I wonder why… I’ll put this on hold for now.

Disassembling the fork.

The part count is incredibly low ♪ This is the best!

I’m honing the plating on the inner tubes.
I think it’ll probably resist leaks better now…

The inner tubes showed no runout. Rest assured.

Now it’s just assembly as usual (*’▽’)

The fork oil was looking a bit tired.

To be continued (*´з`)
