I’d recommend it for people who inflate tires frequently.
It’s more geared toward light commercial use than personal use, though I think that’s true of Makita products in general.

For people who own both a car and a motorcycle and are particular about tire pressure, I’d say it’s “highly recommended.”

Let me explain upfront: the beauty of cordless.

The benefit of being able to “inflate tires without having to pull out the air hose and use it anywhere.”

When you need to inflate or someone asks you to, you’d normally “pull out the air hose” and grab the “air gauge and pump,” then head over to the bike or car.
When you’re done, you put the “air hose” and “air gauge and pump” back.
For us, we do this action how many times a day? That’s the feeling.

But with the Cordless Air Pump 18V MP181DZ, you just grab it and inflate right away.

For a car, naturally there are four tires.
If the air hose reaches, that’s fine, but if it’s tight, it can be a hassle.

Just grab this and inflate. Isn’t that convenient? Yes, it’s convenient.

Compared to an air compressor, it inflates slower.

But even people used to compressors don’t think it’s “ridiculously slow.”
That’s because you’re just topping off the air.
From zero it does feel like it takes longer, but you’re probably only adding around 150 kPa or so.

It fills up quickly while you’re pressing the button, so no worries.

Basically it’s a screw-on type.
That means “it’s cumbersome for topping off air and not practical to use.”
But adding a nice attachment dramatically improves its convenience.

My guess is that because this “only had the screw-on type without an inflation attachment,” that’s why
the product’s rating suffered.

I keep saying it, but “for motorcycle and car use, ” you need to get this.
Or rather, people using this air pump are basically for motorcycles and cars, right?

With these two attachments, using this becomes a breeze. Does it turn into a godsend item?

I think they could have included a different attachment instead.
It probably doesn’t get used much.

The screw-on type is good for raising the bead on tubeless tires.
Personally, I love that it can both inflate and raise the bead. That’s the best, right?

I think this air pump is a very handy item for track use too.

Even with a 120/70-17, the bead came up without any issues.
With something like a 180/55-17, it might struggle.

Pressure display is changeable to your preference.

The size is pretty compact, I’d say.

Press the power button and the light comes on. That’s helpful when inflating in the dark.

“Deflate” and “inflate” are separate switches. That’s probably better for general use.
For us, “half-press” to deflate would be easier, but I guess it gets complicated that way.
