Well, they sure made a lot of them back then~
250/400/750/1000/1100
I just got to thinking.
Actually, this idea…
That’s right! The Katana as-is in 250/400
I wish the new Katana had been like this
Well, that one is what it is
The GSX250S ignition system is full transistor
not CDI ignition
Therefore
that box is an igniter, you see.
The story goes back about a year
The starting was really bad
spark is flying, but compression is low
Therefore
“Spare Katana and engine swap strategy”
was supposed to be?
When two bikes came in together
Could it be?
An igniter issue?
Swap it in and… one shot.
Huh… silence(;・∀・)

Now, let’s get back on track
The spark plug looks like this currently.
It’s pretty much fine

Everyone’s favorite
GU-53C compression tester
Let’s check the cold compression.

I don’t have this manual
but it looks fine.
Let me check unit #1 again
and make a judgment

Spare machine (parts donor)
Fuel is leaking, they said…
It’s quite a slow leak.

For now, let me clean it up
and JBWELD it…
Whoa, it’s collapsing!

Looking with an endoscope…
Coating applied over rust without removing it?
It probably stopped it to some extent
but under the coating
corrosion progressed

Gasoline is pooling under the coating and keeps coming out
After letting it settle for a few days
I’ll fill it with JBWELD.
For now
I think it’ll hold.
