Mid-displacement requires a lot of wrist twist!
You shift a lot, and compared to big bikes,
the throttle
“won’t run unless you open it wide,”
which I found
subtly annoying on mid-displacement bikes.
Larger throttle sleeve outer diameter =
more cable wound up = high throttle
This should make things a bit easier, right?
It increases the winding diameter to approximately 36.5

The larger this outer diameter,
the more “high throttle” it becomes.
With a high throttle, the throttle feels a bit
heavier… but
since it’s the stock vacuum carb,
it doesn’t feel that heavy.

The throttle cable inner length is important!
Reset all the throttle cable play adjustment,
then install it.
“Confirm that the play is taken up.”
Thankfully,
the inner length had plenty of room.
I’m
the type who doesn’t use adhesive
Using adhesive makes removal
“a pain,”
and it often doesn’t hold securely.
Next time for grip replacement, I’ll clean first,
and I solve
that stress with 3M non-slip tape.

This is the thinnest and leaves the least residue.
Once applied, you can replace the grip
repeatedly.
Of course, the tape does make the grip
slightly thicker, but it’s
within the margin of error! The work and grip feel are stress-free!
It’s become
a bit more high throttle!
By the way, even this small difference
“makes a huge difference.”
Unlike big bikes, mid-displacement bikes
constantly open the throttle
nearly all the way.
This small difference × number of times = a win?
