“Things to buy” and “things you want to buy” seem similar but feel slightly different. These days, with shopping becoming so easy, things just keep piling up.
I’ve set up a rough rule “add one, remove one” just by sticking to this, things don’t quietly accumulate.
This year it feels like I’ve been replacing some pretty big items frequently. If you’re going to pick, these three are it! GPZ550/Town Ace Van/Hammer Knife Mower—that’s the decision.

The rumored 65 horsepower? The GPZ550 was actually on my radar. I had specific wants in mind “as original as possible” and “clean engine and carburetor”
These are quietly important points when buying an older motorcycle. I think if it hasn’t been touched much, there are fewer problems. The older it is, the harder it is to find bikes in that condition. You should be mentally prepared to buy immediately if something comes up.
Due to time constraints, I’ve only done the bare minimum maintenance to get it running. Still, I get the impression this is a really well-made bike.
In terms of overall balance, it’s dramatically more refined than the Zephyr 550. To put it negatively, “it’s so well-rounded, is this really Kawasaki?” It’s just that ordinary. I’m starting to think that keeping it mostly original and just adding a little flavor would be plenty. Parts are available in decent supply, so I don’t think there’s much to worry about.
I’ve been buying Kawasaki consecutively, and whether original, used, reproduction, or aftermarket, parts are abundantly available. I don’t think any other manufacturer has this kind of supply. And the extremely broad compatibility is another attraction that draws in users.

With next year’s move coming up, the truck had a lot of problems for just moving things around. Since I’m not loading two bikes, my vehicle options have really expanded.
The same 7K engine as the Town Ace truck Super X I used to drive. I understand the reliability pretty well, so I’m confident. The high-roof GL grade that doesn’t come around often I ended up buying it in December by chance, so it was pretty hectic. For now I’ve installed an ETC and backup monitor and that’s it for this year.
Once I get new tires next year, I’ll be able to drive it with peace of mind. Old tires are a bit scary.

Our new place is less countryside and more “wilderness.” It’s not a situation where I just manage my own property.
I want to live comfortably, so I have to handle things myself. I realized that nature’s power is really strong and can’t be dealt with easily. At first I thought I’d try to keep costs down, but that just eats up “time and effort” and kills my motivation.
After doing proper research on YouTube and such, I realized that buying this type of grass cutter was the quickest and most efficient solution. I bought the Hammer Knife Mower this year and already “oh, I’m so glad I bought it” is what I think. I never thought grass cutting could be this easy? It’s a high-performance machine.
Basically it only works on flat ground, but with “no collection hassle” and “zones nearly 2 meters wide,” I can clear land with ease. *Depending on the grass type, it can be difficult. If you think grass cutting is a drag, I really recommend it.
