Let’s replace the intake manifold, which is surprisingly labor-intensive
It’s already dried out and crumbly with the rubber surface peeling off. Even in this condition, it’s designed so it won’t suck in secondary air, which is nice (*´ω`*)
This Zephyr 750 is an emissions-equipped model with “secondary air and carb heater” also installed, so removing the carb is surprisingly difficult.
I quickly removed it and polished it with an oil stone. The cam chain tensioner is compact and looks cool…
Kawasaki genuine parts supply stability is incredible
The compatibility of Kawasaki as a manufacturer is wonderful. Thanks to that compatibility, they’re able to supply parts for a long time.
And there’s also something strange happening, even though genuine parts are available, reproductions exist. Huh? Why is that… Are they anticipating discontinuation…?
The base is aluminum with solid construction. With this shape, it won’t suck in secondary air unless it gets really bad.
Customer requested to do something about the carb’s appearance?
The mileage is about 80,000 km? An overhaul is coming up soon, but since there’s nothing particularly wrong with it, I’ll just do a gentle cleaning.
Pssht! Pssht! It’s backfiring and turned completely black. *I’ve cleaned it up.
Time passes… and it’s gotten somewhat cleaner
The bracket visible from above was finished with gun coating. The chrome top cover was wet blasted and then polished with chrome polish. I installed the cleanest one on the outside.
I think the appearance has become much more beautiful now.
First comes preparation, second comes preparation (*´ω`*)
I’ve cleaned up the surrounding area and prepared to welcome the carburetor. Considering the possibility that if something goes wrong and I have to remove it again, I think it’s best to keep the surrounding area clean and simple.
I’m a metal ruler person for carb slide insertion? I always think about inserting it as smoothly as possible without any issues.
For areas where fuel hoses and such rub, “braided tubing” makes it functional, simple, and beautiful. This has been the style since around 2000 and later.
Carburetor work is complete with the synchronization perfectly adjusted.
The best move before the air filter deteriorates
A customer told me about this, and apparently Daytona has released a great filter.
There’s no reason not to use it. I basically hate Kawasaki’s genuine air filters. Depending on mileage and age, they can deteriorate and fall apart. Of course, that means the engine is sucking it through the carb…
I replace it before it gets bad. I should order this for my ZEPHYR550 too. They only stock popular models, so please note. Daytona Replacement Air Filter List *Of course, there’s no oil-cooled option…
The spark plugs are clean, so I’ll reuse them.
If there are no issues, it should be complete tomorrow.
