Finished the sprocket cover in a matching color.
The sprocket cover was painted in a perfect original-style color.
The finish is as sharp as ever and I’m impressed.

I cleaned up the inside of the sprocket cover minimally.
Replaced the drive sprocket nut and lock washer with new ones.
Cleaned the countershaft threads before assembly.
The front appears to be one tooth short. 14 teeth.
Overhauled the clutch release and installed the sprocket cover.
The bolts look great and it’s looking even sharper now.
Painted the single seat cover in the same color too.
This one also has that sharp finish and came out shiny and polished.
Removing the spray paint that was applied initially was quite a hassle. Thanks for the hard work!
I’ll install this tomorrow.
They asked for a new one but I did an overhaul instead.
The price of a new rear master cylinder was quite a punch.
Even if you buy a new one, you end up taking it apart for work anyway, so from that perspective, a used one is fine. That’s the decision I made.
Given the age, it’s pretty worn out, so bikes you buy used should definitely get a thorough overhaul.
In recent years, the progress in tools and equipment has been remarkable.
I don’t think we could have done this kind of work so casually decades ago.
With a little equipment investment, the quality of work improves and the time spent on work itself decreases.
Customers are satisfied, so equipment investment is important in all respects.
If you’re planning to continue this work for another 5 or 10 years, consider convenience and
make equipment investments—mutual satisfaction will increase significantly.
I was planning to finish today, but people kept stopping by for long chats and I didn’t get it done.
Tomorrow I’ll do the remaining oil change, fit everything, and we should be complete.
