The trouble with Makita products…

It’s extremely difficult to choose.
I started with 18V, and if it’s not enough, maybe a 36V (dual 18V) model?
Ideally both 18V and 40V!
In my personal opinion, if I had to pick just one, 40Vmax is the safe bet (by our comparison).

Ideally, a shorter extension rod would improve workability even more.
Using this with 40Vmax I roughly cut thick and long items.
This attachment has very little risk of injury or flying debris
I think it’s an item especially for beginners.

Initially A-76043 500mm I purchased, but it’s very long and heavy .
I thought longer would be safer, which was a mistake. “Long items with heavy tips = even heavier” Caution is needed.
By the way, I barely use the saw blade and nylon cord types can be used safely.
What you can do with 40Vmax! What I couldn’t do with 18V
Naturally, 18V is weak under high load .
Without reducing rotation speed you have to manage it carefully. *Conversely, it’s difficult
To use a haircut analogy, “you can’t go straight to a buzz cut” *Unless it’s a dense area, it might be okay?
You need to gradually cut through.
When it becomes high load, “STOP” it stops. Restarting is also tedious
High load/restart also drains the battery quickly .
To stop the 40Vmax, you’d have to do something pretty extreme .
In other words, you can work without worrying about STOP or restart “and focus only on grass cutting”
Honestly, “I was shocked!” & “I should have gone with 40Vmax from the start” is what I thought.
The merits of 18V are “lightness and portable battery”
Lower initial cost is very helpful.
Especially the battery. 40Vmax batteries are very expensive .
When you need at least 2… even Makita users think twice.
Huh? Will I really use 40Vmax in the future? …If you will, I think it’s okay.
I will no longer “Makita Cordless Split Motor 18V MUX18DZ” use, so I’m disposing of it.
Lightness is a merit, but there are few situations where I can take advantage of it.
The torque and power of 40Vmax are in a different league
