Part 1: Considering the Future of Oil-Cooled GSX-R1100 Clutch Plates

With FCC clutch plates being discontinued,
we’ll consider alternatives.

Could that become “discontinued”? I think manufacturers tend to quietly announce such things about parts that need
“attention.” If it’s too much trouble,
you don’t necessarily need to keep your antenna up for parts information.

But
“it’s the bike owner who suffers.”

Riding an old bike means

“some level of self-defense”
and “parts preservation” are incredibly important.

The oil-cooled GSX-R series has also exceeded 30 years,

but the perception of it being “old” or “classic” is still weak.
The reality is that we’ve only recently started having trouble finding parts,

so unlike “famous classic bikes,”

the likelihood of reproductions appearing is low.
That said, “m-tech” in Kyoto is incredibly helpful, selling very niche reproductions.

Now let me summarize the clutch situation.
Since FCC was available, I never really thought it through carefully.

About steel plates:
they’re common from ’87-’92!

21451-06B00 (G-J)
21451-48B00 (K-N)
These part numbers were consolidated to the K-N number 21451-48B00.

About friction plates:
the part numbers seem to differ

Even if the part numbers differ, if the “shape and thickness”
are the same, they can be used.
Since I don’t have used ones to compare, I can’t
“compare” them.
