Bimota SB3 Deco-mainte, tire replacement, engine oil change and more

Now let’s continue with the maintenance (‘ω’)ノ

The caliper condition looks fine.
The pistons are aluminum, so that’s reassuring. The old caliper’s “dust boots” are really something special when you think about it. The pistons stay remarkably clean—that’s excellent.

I cleaned the chain thoroughly and lubricated it.
When you feel the chain with your hands, you can really tell the “wear condition” very well.

I removed the lever area and cleaned and lubricated it.
Some levers can work with “snug tightening” alone.

Depending on the situation, we judge and make good use of lock nuts and such.

A bit pricey? The lubricant “Tri-Flow” is what we love to use at the shop.
It’s pretty rare to find something with PTFE (fluorine) in it.

In my impression, “it penetrates very easily and becomes smooth with minimal amount” is how it feels.
A little squirt makes it smooth and lasts well.

Now let’s finish up the step area.

For its era, it’s quite an intricate design. That’s Bimota for you.

I cleaned up the side stand as well.

I finished both bases.
At times like this, I really think “bare metal” is the best.

I measured the disc thickness for reference. I wonder what the original was…

I lubricated the speedometer and tachometer cables.
I think this area too should be “used for as long as possible” if it’s still working.

I replaced the fluid.
The reason the right image looks black is “the anodized body below” is showing through.

Overall condition is good, which is a relief.
Tomorrow we’ll replace the spark plugs and we’re done (*’▽’)
