Stem bearing replacement tool. Not “universal” but “exceptionally excellent” – worth having

Removing the race on the frame side (the bearing seat) is surprisingly labor-intensive.

The ease varies by manufacturer. Some individual pieces can be quite stubborn.

Park Tool RT-1/RT-2.

As you can see, it’s a straightforward tool.

The four spread claws contact the race as evenly as possible and punch it out uniformly.
This thing has incredibly strong tension – it rarely slips when struck.

If you run a shop, it’s better to “get both.” As long as the applicable diameter is reasonably close, they work. Having both on hand means
when the “race engagement is weak,” you can also use the RT-2 with “more tension applied.”

It’s simple to use.

The tip spreads open, so you insert it from the “striking side,” and the spread portion is “assisted slightly by hand” to set it in place.

Strictly speaking, even 0.5mm of engagement will do the job.

This takes a bit of practice, but that’s how “excellent” it is.
Being able to push out “all four points simultaneously”

is what makes it so good.

If you’re currently tapping one side at a time, just getting this tool will make things so much easier.
