An angle drill really comes in handy in these tight situations. It’s an absolutely essential tool.

For brittle plastic materials, use “reverse rotation” (;’∀’)
Pilot holes are fine, but with M5 and larger, the material can strip and crack.
In those cases, you can rotate in reverse and carefully cut/enlarge the hole for safer work.
Modifying the fender in one spot or two spots is the same effort
so I’ll go ahead and cut threads into the swingarm.
Which way should the threads be perpendicular to?
If you use a technique nut that reliably stands perpendicular to the seating surface, it’ll naturally stay straight.
Full-fairing bikes can look pretty rough when photographed from the side or at an angle, so be careful.
I think there are surprisingly few that actually look decent…

This is a product issue. It needs to be slightly stretched to install, which is probably the cause.
However, I’ve managed to avoid tire contact, so I’ll call it good.
This mini Brembo is difficult to route hoses through…
