When you think of August, it’s summer vacation and Obon season. The schedule tends to get hectic, though things have settled down a bit due to the pandemic.
The weather was either scorching hot or rainy, which made test rides and inspections a hassle. It was a month where things didn’t seem to progress as efficiently as we’d like.
We had quite a few carburetor overhauls.
Rather than routine maintenance, these were cases where the carburetors were so clogged they were beyond help—a rare condition for us.
Disposing of that stale, smelly gasoline is really a pain. (The waste oil company won’t take it.)
We also discovered a better way to clean brake calipers.
The quickest method is wet blasting with baking soda, and there’s another one using an unreleased chemical.
Coming up with more efficient cleaning methods is just part of the job.
We were troubled again this month by price increases and discontinued Suzuki OEM parts.
The days when you could just order a part and be done with it are long gone.
Otherwise, we just managed to find a few OEM parts here and there.
August flew by. I haven’t touched or ridden my own bike at all.
September’s schedule is already full, so please don’t feel pressured to request work. (*´ω｀*)
