Suzuki genuine parts price hike is intense… GSX1100SR is tough too. Inspection, Deco-mainte, BT46V tire replacement, fork oil change, ELF oil change, and more

Well, this might be the last blog update for 2020.

This includes repairs from a spill we had a while back. Motorcycles are always vulnerable—it’s a tough situation…

I can’t quite hide my surprise at the price hike on Suzuki genuine parts.

Each list price is 12,200 yen… hmm, that’s pricey.

It’s a tire weight measurement campaign.

There were no issues with wheel runout. The wheel has quite a bit of weight applied to it.
That might be pretty common for wheels from this era.

I found a fairly rare weight, so I’d like to install this one.

The axle shaft runout should be fine.

I applied Gun Coat to all the small parts.

Let’s clean up the speedometer and cable and apply some oil.

The wheel bearings should be fine.

Fork oil change was also requested, so I went ahead and replaced it.
The oil looks clean.

It’s good to clean the inside while the wheel is off.

I cleaned the caliper. The operation is so-so.
It’s a good idea to replace the single-piston boots occasionally for peace of mind.

It’s good to degrease and clean the brake disc.

I replaced the cracked cover and applied TSCC.

I’ll also replace the damper when installing the missing upper side cover.
*It’s already hard as plastic.
